Bacteria is always present in the ear, the problem develops when it fills with fluid, the ears are naturally generating fluid that drains down into the back of the throat through the Eustachian tube. When the fluid gets blocked and is unable to drain we end up with kids that pull on their ears, and complain about ear pain, in babies they can be fussy and leave the parent not knowing what is wrong with them. When it gets really bad sometimes the child will hit their head against things that are hard to try to find relief.
